Monster Quest: Kraken

Ava, a dedicated nature protector, is dealing with the aftermath of a violent encounter that left her boat damaged and her warehouse in ruins. What first seems like an accident quickly turns into something far more unsettling. Over five days, the investigation unfolds through scattered equipment, disturbed wildlife, and subtle clues that don’t quite add up. Each task brings a clearer picture, shifting from routine recovery work to something far older and more elusive. By the time the truth emerges, the line between legend and reality has already begun to blur.

Day 1

one fish

Ava starts with something simple, asking you to catch any fish while observing the water for signs of salmon schools. It feels almost like a warm-up, a way to confirm that everything is working as expected before moving on. Once done, she hands over a small reward and seems satisfied enough to continue.

snowshoe

The snowshoe lies east of the helipad, right by the research station pier. It’s one of several items thrown around when Ava’s boat was violently struck, a quiet reminder that something powerful passed through here.

skis

North of the landing pad, near the kayak pier, the skis rest abandoned. In a region where mobility is essential, seeing them left behind like this feels slightly off.

harpoon

On a small island between Walrus Island and the eastern research station, the harpoon can be recovered. Its origin traces back to an old manufacturing site, adding a bit of history to the search.

compass

The compass is found near an abandoned fishing base in the south. It once belonged to a family and was lost during a struggle with a King Salmon. Ava begins to wonder if local legends hold more truth than expected.

Day 2

wood

Floating pieces of wood drift across the surface. Collecting four sets helps restore what was lost when the warehouse was destroyed, a slow but necessary step toward rebuilding.

oil barrels

Near the small airport in the west, three oil barrels ended up in the water. While retrieving them, Ava points out unusual marks left on her warehouse doors, hinting at something far from ordinary.

Day 3

spot prawn

Near the igloo village in the far north, two spot prawn are needed to lure Bruce back. The walrus fled after being frightened, and this is the first attempt to bring him home.

california sea cucumber

Shallow waters near a small eastern island hide the california sea cucumber. Another attempt to lure Bruce, while Ava starts suspecting the creature might not be easy to spot.

walrus

Bruce is eventually found between Walrus Island and the northeastern ice floe. Strange sucker marks cover his skin, an unsettling detail that changes the tone of the entire investigation.

meteorite

In the southwest, a meteorite is recovered to repair and magnetize the broken compass. With it working again, Ava believes tracking the creature might finally be possible.

Day 4

coalfish

Around the southern isthmus, coalfish gather in large numbers. Catching 25 kg helps feed Bruce, who has barely eaten while Ava focuses on the growing Kraken theory.

humboldt squid

East of Walrus Island, especially after dark, the humboldt squid appears. Comparing its sucker marks confirms Ava’s suspicion—the creature behind everything matches the Kraken legend.

Day 5

bigmouth sculpin

Near the southern harbor rocks, the bigmouth sculpin becomes active at night. Ava still considers rational explanations, even as the evidence continues to point elsewhere.

frozen acorn

At the mouth of the Oak River in the southeast, the frozen acorn is collected. It plays a key role in crafting a bait suited for something far larger than usual catches.

kraken

The Kraken reveals itself in the northeast, around Walrus Island, the Inuit village, or nearby ice floes. According to Ava, at dusk choppy water and bubbles reveal its presence, but this should be ignored: the kraken is active at all times, day and night. The special bait from the Marina improves the odds, but the encounter still feels unpredictable.
